World of Tanks (PC)

World of Tanks Boxshot
World of Tanks is the first and only team-based massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to armored warfare.
Release Date: Apr 12, 2011

Despite the similarity of World of Tanks' name to another fairly popular game made by some random company named Blizzard, that's where the likenesses end. World of Tanks is called a free-to-play MMO, but the genre label isn't entirely accurate. This is not a huge persistent world populated solely by tanks in an especially violent reimagining of Pixar's Cars. Instead, it's a game meant to get you in and out team-based tank battles in fifteen minutes or less. The MMO-like aspect is the persistent upgrade system, where from a garage you can make extensive tweaks to an ever-growing stable of impressively modeled World War II death machines.

Ride the legendary Tiger tank, or choose the fast-and-furious Soviet T-34, practice your sharp-shooting skills with the American 155mm M40 Gun Motor Carriage or try experimental/prototype machines such as the Germany's monstrous Maus tank. A Player can have an endless number of tanks in "garage", and all machines can be upgraded in dozens of ways: better turrets, chassis, guns, engines, radios, various ammunition types, plus tank crew members can be leveled up as well.

World of Tanks is a team-based massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to armored warfare. Throw yourself into the epic tank battles of World War II with other steel cowboys all over the world. Your arsenal includes more than 150 armored vehicles from America, Germany, and the Soviet Union, carefully detailed with historical accuracy.
  • World of Tanks launches in Europe and North America on 12th April, Wargaming.net has announced.
  • The free-to-play vehicle MMO has been in various stages of closed and open beta testing for nine months.
  • World of Tanks sees players tear about the battlefield in World War II-era machines. There are destructible environments and upgrades.
